text2jest

This little tool aims to help you write your Javascript Jest tests just a little bit quicker.

I don't know about you, but before diving into code, I like to type out the structure of my tests in a text editor, nested like markdown bullet points. It helps me visualise what is going on and what I am trying to achieve.

After a lot of repetitive typing, I figured it would be nice to automate some of this process if I could. This tool is the result. It helps me and I hope it helps you too.

For those interested, this site was written over a weekend in April 2023 using NextJS, Tailwind and Zustand.

What you type into this website is private to you. Your data is not transmitted or stored anywhere other than your web browser. Your settings and most recent edit are stored in localStorage so you don't lose your work if you accidentally close the browser tab. Anonymous visitor stats are recorded using Fathom*: cookie-free, GDPR-compliant, privacy-first website analytics.

If you have any suggestions or constructive feedback on how I can improve this tool, please contact me and I'll see what I can do.
